The beauty of remote work is you can stay home and work in your pajamas, cook a fresh lunch, and eliminate commute time from your day. As great as that all may be, I’ve found that sometimes I need a change of scenery to be more productive. Here are my top five go-to places to work remotely from in Providence, Rhode Island.
31 days condensed into four minutes certainly will not do my time in Uganda justice, but I wanted to share some highlights of my time serving with HEAL Ministries as a social media intern. From the pure joy of the kids, to growing in my relationships with the women, to the beauty of Uganda itself, hopefully this will give you a glimpse into my life in Jinja!
April 30 is the day that boba lovers everywhere rejoice to celebrate National Bubble Tea Day. For the newbies out there, bubble tea is a (delicious) Taiwanese tea-based drink with tapioca balls or flavored jellies. In celebration of what should be considered a federal holiday, here are my favorite places to enjoy bubble tea in the Boston area.
I’m so excited to have been accepted to return to Uganda as a Social Media Intern with HEAL Ministries! Since college graduation in 2017, I’ve been working for a marketing agency that services small, woman owned businesses and nonprofits. I’ve gained a lot of experience in marketing and social media and am grateful for this opportunity.
I first heard Chimamanda Adichie's voice when Beyoncé sampled Adichie's "We Should All Be Feminists" speech in her song "Flawless." Adichie's words were powerful and really resonated with me, so when I heard she was the closing speaker at Inbound I was beyond excited.
Shonda Rhimes, creator, writer, and executive producer of Grey's Anatomy and Scandal, was interviewed at Hubspot's Inbound Marketing conference. Rhimes is also the executive producer of How to Get Away with Murder and is currently working on several other shows that will be streamed on Netflix (hopefully) beginning in 2019.
Last summer I went on a safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park– it was like being on Animal Planet. Even though we saw elephants, lions, zebras, hippos, and more wildlife, the most memorable part of our safari weekend was the moon.
As I was cleaning out my camera roll on the train ride to work, I realized I had too many delicious eats to delete. Thus, a food baby was born and @s.fishfoodie was her name.
For the last two years I've been working as a Social Media Coordinator and Marketing Assistant, representing woman-owned/woman-operated (#wowo) small businesses & non-profits at Rani Wise Co. In honor of #NationalSocialMediaDay, I figured I'd share five helpful tips for small businesses!
After graduating from Emmanuel College in the Fenway area of Boston in 2017, my heart called me to serve as a social media intern with HEAL Ministries in Jinja, Uganda.
I believe that the most important kind of love to give and receive in this lifetime is unconditional love—the ability to love a person wholeheartedly, no matter the circumstances or their flaws. My first impression of The James Place is exactly that: everyone involved with HEAL Ministries pours their heart and soul into each day and loves one another unconditionally.
In 10 days I will be graduating college and thrown into the "real world." The world outside of classrooms and dorm buildings, a world I have yet to experience since I have been in school since the age of four.
My older sister Hannah moved to Spain after graduating from college. Since we can never be apart for long, I decided to spend my college winter break visiting her in her new home and exploring Europe. I had never been to Europe before and my bucket list of places I wanted to go and things I wanted to see was pretty long. After a few weeks of planning, we decided that I would fly to Spain to stay with her and then we would meet up with some friends in Italy. After Italy we'd venture to Greece, Poland, and Iceland.
The places you go are just that: places. Pins in a map, checks off your bucket list. Sure, there are plenty of beautiful places to see in this world, but traveling to these destinations is not half as magical if you don't have the right company.
During a semester abroad you don't realize how fast time is moving until it's too late. We were determined to take full advantage of our five months in Thailand, hoping to see and experience as much of Southeast Asia as possible. As always, there was too much to do and too little time. I consider myself lucky to have had the opportunity to spend time in Krabi (Thailand), Siem Reap (Cambodia), Bagan (Myanmar), and several cities in Vietnam.
Returning to The James Place felt a lot like coming home. Although HEAL has made so many amazing changes and expansions, as I walked up the red dirt driveway for the first time in two years, it felt as if nothing had changed at all.
